Olympic Panda

This is a cute small painting I did of one of the Olympic pandas in Beijing's zoo. He was scratching his back and playing with his toes...

Two Orchids

This painting is part of my Painting in the Gardens series. I was able to give some depth to the piece even though it is a close up... I'm very proud!!!

Pomegranates

I arranged this still life to include a little bit of a Chinese influence, but I did not want to make it "overtly Chinese."

Hope you enjoy it!

Offering

This painting is from a picture I took at the Jade Buddha temple in Shanghai. It was placed in one of the altars on the first floor.

I love the result!

Monkey King

Before entering the Peking Opera, we got a chance to see the performers applying their make up. Besides knowing their performances by heart they also need to learn the art of decorating their faces... It was a very cool thing to see... No make up artists here!

Serenity

This is a scene from Shanghai. A quiet place in the house next to the bridge of nine turns. When I photographed it, I knew I had to paint it! Do you feel the calm of the place? A retreat from the noise of the city...

Lotus Blossom

This is a painting of a lotus flower from a picture I took in Shanghai just outside the place where we had a little Chinese calligraphy workshop...
I went back to pastels for this one... I really miss them... But I want to keep concentrating on oil for a while...
